Crash Team Racing Review

Developed by Beenox, Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fuelled is a remarkable racing game that was released on both Xbox and PlayStation platforms on 21 June 2019. This plenty of rumours that the game will make its way to PC in 2020. However, there’s no confirmation on this as of yet. In the meantime, let’s take a closer look at the characters, gameplay, available tracks, and overall presentation of this exciting racing game.

Playable Characters

The game offers an extraordinary selection of ancillary characters, villains, and heroes from the wild universe of Crash Bandicoot, each recreated in charming new modes with plenty of amusing animations to bring them to life. From Ripper and Coco to Polar and Pinstripe, each character is an absolute joy to behold. The only downside to the full range of styles in the game is the fact that the vocals are somewhat limited where each character is only making a few repetitive announcements during a race.

Gameplay

You will notice that the overall design of the game favours the main characters in the game when it comes to racing. However, with a little practice and getting familiar with each track, you will have any aspect of your choosing take pole position. The game comes equipped with more than 30 different tracks, each brimming with colour and life. Whether you want to skid on the sand, burn through an underground kingdom owned by a dragon, or race through insane laboratories, racecourses old and new have been injected with a kaleidoscope of attractive backgrounds to keep you entertained. The only downside to the track selection is the fact that some of the tracks show their age when it comes to the layouts. In some, you might find great speedways filled with chasm leaps, exciting slaloms, and tyre-screeching straights, while others will be downright clunky with poorly placed jumps and curves along with a couple of choke points.

Content

When it comes to content, you will be pleased to know that the new Crash Team Racing video game is bursting at the seams with modes, including Grand Prix, relic hunts, time trails, arena battles, and more. The biggest attraction when it comes to single-player mode is undoubtedly the Adventure Mode, allowing players to go on a 16 course battle around the world that will provide tons of competitiveness and entertainment. Once you complete these races, you will unlock brand-new characters, wheels, and even kart bodies. However, you will first need to get used to the mechanics of the game along with the tracks and weapons before you’ll be considered a master on each of these tracks.

Overall

Crash Team Racing is a phenomenal game that comes equipped with tons of content, loads of excellent tracks, and a wide variety of characters to keep you coming back for more. The overall graphics and animations are out-of-this-world, and the layout of the roads will provide a competitive edge that you will need to master if you want to be a winner.
